Coaching Certification – It’s Not Important, But What Is?

In the coaching profession it is not necessary to get a coaching certification. In other words just about anyone can begin coaching without prior certification from any school or institution. Although there are some places that are making moves to regulate the profession, getting a coaching certification is not a requirement to be great at what you do.

What makes a great coach?

Having a coaching certification is not the basis for one to be considered an amazing coach. If you have prior experience in your field of expertise and you have the zeal and passion to support others then you may have what it takes to be a successful professional coach. You know the ins and outs of the business because you’ve been there done it. Anyone can start their own coaching business with virtually zero training or certifications.

However there is one “training” activity all successful coaches partake in consistently. They are always being coached themselves by a coach who is ahead of where they want to be. It makes sense right? If a coach wants to help their clients grow they must be growing themselves. This is where the true learning comes from. Being coached regularly is the best way to improve as a coach and a mentor.

But in case you’re wondering why there are people who want to get certified, they were indoctrinated by coaching organizations and schools. They believe it’s essential and that’s why these institutions exist to certify them.

Many people want to get certified because they want a validation that they are good coaches. But the truth is, it is highly possible to be certified even if you are not that good of a coach. In the same way that there are many great coaches that exist out there without coaching certification.

There is nothing wrong with getting a coaching certification, but then again there is no guarantee that a certified coach can deliver better results than an uncertified one. In fact, anyone with a printer can claim that they are certified coach-and I mean anyone who may not even have experience in business or in other fields. Who knows right?

If a coaching certification doesn’t matter then, what does?

Experience, ability, a great system-these are just few of the elements that matter when it comes to choosing a business coach. Clients want to invest in people who can help them; a person whom they believe in. And coaches must have a solid background in business or in other fields in order for them to gain the respect and trust of their clients.

Experience in their field can speak for itself. Bill Gates, for example, does not need to be certified in order for him to become a successful business coach. Ask yourself, does he need a certification?

What’s also important is whether or not the he or she was able to deliver desirable results for her or his previous clients. Was she or he able to improve a business, achieve goals or improve relationships? This is an effective way to measure whether or not a coach has a system that works for their clients.

The most important reasons why certain coaches succeed in their field is their irreversible passion for what they do. Coaches can make a great difference in people’s lives only when they have a heart for coaching. And having a coaching certification cannot replace passion, experience, real and raw skills.

MLM Coaching – Are You Following The Wrong Person?

I remember a few years ago, when “coaching” became the new buzz.

I understand coaching for:

Professional Athletes

Dancers

Actors

Race Car Drivers

even Internet Marketers

However, I had and still have a terrible time wrapping my mind around the concept of a MLM Coach, someone to help you in your Network Marketing Business.

My immediate response is what in the heck is your upline doing to earn their royalty commissions? If you are a “leader” and have downline members who are using the services of a coach, you should be ashamed! That is all I am going to say to you about that.

With that said the last 7 years of my 27 year network marketing career, I have been operating Calvert Marketing Group a consulting, coaching, and Seminar Company for the network marketing industry. Thankfully most of my clients are high level six figure industry earners who realize that what they do and teach is not duplicatable by the masses.

I have finally come to grips with the facts. Top producers in network marketing frequently use coaches to help them think strategically about the business and to bounce ideas around. Others use coaches to help find balance between their personal and professional lives. To paraphrase Emerson, “We all need someone who can help us to better do what we already can do.”

The number one problem I see is that there are some network marketing coaches in the marketplace that are trying to teach clients to do, that which they have never done! The industry is full of people who call themselves coaches, just because they took a class, not because they have actually built a thriving, growing, duplicating organization.

Last night I got a call with someone trying to prospect me for the new latest greatest opportunity.

He calls, and asks for me. As soon as I say “this is Dale” he starts into his pitch; new product, new company, more millionaires, great ownership, unique marketing plan and on and on and on and on. When he finally came up for air, I simply said I wish you well, but I am not a prospect.

His response, what are you?

I normally would have hung up and not responded to such a disrespectful comment/question.

But for some reason, I said I operate a training and consulting company for the network marketing industry. (Maybe subconsciously I was hoping I could help him and he would ask for a few pointers on his terrible phone approach)

His response, I do coaching too, how much do you get an hour? My response, that depends, but my normal fee is $500 per hour with a 3 hour minimum. His response, I need to raise my prices, I only charge $200 an hour, but I make more coaching than I do with my opportunity, almost $4,000 last month from coaching 17 clients.

I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry, I just wished the guy well and hung up.

Who are the 17 idiots paying this guy?

His interest is clearly in making money and not helping his clients. With his terrible phone approach I can’t imagine him sharing anything of value with anyone. Just because he went to a class and now can call himself a certified whatever does not mean that you, or anyone else should listen to him.

So do you need a coach?

Probably not, if you are making less than $1,000 a month from your MLM Opportunity, you definitely don’t need a coach. An investment in the right course, teaching you specific skill sets would probably do you much more good.

I have found that full time network marketers whose business has stagnated benefit most from coaching.

So how do you find an effective coach that can really help you propel your business into a higher gear?

If you look at the Top 50-100 coaches in the network marketing industry, there are less than 10 that have actually earned a million dollar annual income with a network marketing opportunity. Start with that list.

The next thing you should look at is how many people on their team were able to create six figure annual incomes?

And lastly and the most important thing is how many of those six figure earners actually developed six figure earners within their organization. These are the people you should follow; these are coaches that I call Pentacle Leaders.

Six figure earners who have taught other six figure earners, who have taught additional six figure earners. These are people that are Pentacle Leaders and these are the coaches you should listen to, because what they teach is duplicatable. Does that make sense?

Six figure earners are a dime a dozen in the MLM Industry. However the reality is 90% of the six figure earners in the industry really don’t know how they did it.

There are two ways to build your business.

#1 BY DESIGN or #2 GRITS, GUTS, PERSONALITY, AND DETERMINATION (CHANCE)

You need a coach that has actually built an organization by DESIGN not by chance, because they should be able to teach you that Design (System).

Choosing Elementary School Photographers – Part I

If you look on the wall of any mother’s home you will find cherished memories framed for every year. No matter how silly the photo, school photographs are remembered for a lifetime. Like most things that have a deep rooted tradition, technology has made elementary school pictures much more exciting. Many schools go with the traditional school pose for their fall program. But did you know a lot of schools use spring pictures as a fundraiser and have fun doing it?

Things to Consider when Choosing an Elementary School Photographer

Before you can think about how school photography can be a great fundraiser, you first have to choose the right photographer. For school photographers in San Diego, most decisions are made by the administrative staff, while others are left to the PTO or PTA. However, with school staffs being spread so thin these days, many schools are leaving the decision to the PTO.

There are so many school photographers available today that the decision to choose a school photographer can be a difficult one. A school photographer in San Diego is going to have a different program than a local company in a small town.

Listen to word of mouth. Good school photographers will have people talking about them. They will also have a good selection of experienced, professional school photographers to run your school picture day. It is always good to take a look at the company’s website to see their overall philosophy.

Something else to consider when choosing a photographer is who is actually taking the school pictures. You might want to ask for sample pictures taken by the actual photographers who will be at your school picture day. Many schools ask to meet the photographers who will be working at their school, which isn’t a bad idea. You want a photographer who will allow the kids to relax, because when kids are relaxed they take better pictures. This in turn leads to parents who are satisfied with their school pictures.

Another consideration when selecting a photography company is how much work will be required of the school. Many companies provide all the staff needed for picture day and require no volunteers from the school. When a company takes most of the work off of the school they are well valued.

Other photographers prefer teacher and parent volunteer involvement on picture day. There is a rational explanation for this, that the parents and staff know the students better. However, if your photographer is experienced in taking elementary school pictures, the kids will warm up to them very quickly. Plus, parents are not experienced in running a school picture day, that should be the job of the school photographer.

8 Top Tips When Studying for Exams

Many of us have occasions when we need to study for exams, often starting at school and then moving onto university and professional qualifications. Most people find them to be very stressful times.

A few helpful tips can make an enormous difference:

– Review your mental approach. Exams can be an important stepping-stone for our future choices and it’s good to do our best, but know too that passing or failing doesn’t define who you are. If you need to re-sit certain parts remind yourself that life’s not over. Taking a little longer won’t matter in the long-term.

– Use whichever method works for you. Is it writing notes, recording and playing sections back, practising papers, being quizzed? Discover your preferred way to study.

– Break studying into bite-sized chunks. Rather than attacking everything in a random way and becoming overwhelmed it’s more effective to start by establishing a timetable. Study one subject in the morning, maybe another in the afternoon. Introduce variety and keep things fresh.

– Schedule time away. It’s good to take a break and make the most of 15 minute interludes. Go for a walk, have a singalong, dance, be energetic. Maybe even use opportunities to study outside in the fresh air for a change. You’ll find you return with refreshed energy and a clearer mind.

– Are your friends a good influence? Some people don’t need to study and find exams easy. If friends are a distraction maybe take a break from them for the duration. The last thing you need are people who don’t share your goals, reduce your focus or put you off.

– Talk to those closest and let them be supportive. It might be a parent, teacher, family friend, but discuss your concerns and fears with those who are on your side and let them help with reassurance, motivation or simply by listening.

– Sleep is important, so keep good discipline around bedtime. Cramming all night is exhausting and is often counter-productive. Eat, drink water and sleep. Self-care matters all the more when you’re studying.

– Apprenticeships, internships and ‘shop floor’ entry can offer viable alternatives to exams en route to your chosen career. Working your way up whilst in employment can be an effective way to learn many relevant skills and many employers will fund your taking professional exams.

Do your best and remember, whatever happens this is one step on your journey to reaching your goals. Sometimes detours are fine and lead to unexpected, interesting places. Value each opportunity.

Writing Resolutions Broken? Read This to Recharge Your Batteries

Writing resolutions are great, but don’t let them rule your life.

What did you want to accomplish this year? Did you want to pursue your talents? Did you want to write more often? Did you want to finish that story? Try poetry? Whatever your resolution was, breaking it is only natural.

Life is busy, and it waits for no one. Don’t be cross with yourself for “failing”. No one really fails. They are just procrastinating, always thinking tomorrow will be different. It happens with diets. It happens with smoking. It happens with writing, too. The main thing is to pick yourself up the next day and make a new resolution. And should you fail that day, too, make a new resolution the following day.

Daily resolutions are the only kind that really accomplish anything. So now is the time to make your daily resolve. Here are a few ideas to help you refocus.

Break your writing time into small chunks that you can work into any day. Fifteen minutes is a good choice. That gives you five minutes to clear your mind and ten minutes to get into the groove. You’d be surprised what you can write in fifteen minutes.

Here’s a true story. An unpublished woman wrote and finished a book by writing fifteen minutes a day on her lunch hour. She sent it to an editor. He bought it, and she got it published. Writers, you make your own limitations, and you make your own chances in life.

When you sit down to write, if you don’t see any inspiration, don’t let that concern you. You can write about your work, your boss, a rude clerk in the store, a nice person you met, your mate, how you want to remodel the house, or what kind of shopping you would like to do. What matters is that you string your words together in proper English, proper punctuation, and good thought patterns. Everything you write has meaning. It shows your attitude, your interest, your opinion, your intentions, your psychological status, and so much more.

Write at the same time every day, if at all possible. That is the key to wanting to write. If you write at the same time every day for a week, you will begin to feel the urge to write. When you resist that urge because you choose to do something else, the urge will be less the next day. Put writing at the top of your priorities.

Writing at the same time every day will bring the muse. If you don’t know what the muse it, you will know it when it hits you. It will be hard to type as fast as your mind delivers the content. You won’t want to stop. You won’t want to be disturbed. You won’t want to do anything but write… and that is the muse. Cherish it. Love it. Obey it when it calls. The muse is to a writer what a car is to a driver. It is your vehicle to transport you from this world into the one you create. For more free writing tips, see below.

Make the PMP Exam a Happy and Stress-Free Exam

It has been common to us to be really nervous during the PMP Exam. It even turns out to be the most stressful day of our entire lives. You might feel wanting to stop but you must not! You have given a whole lot of your time for that and it would be a waste of everything if you give up now. Think positive and move on, be confident that with all the sacrifices you did, you will pass. Trust in yourself and you will do great. You have the right to pass. But, if you really want to delay for awhile your exam, you could tell the Prometric testing 2 days before the exam or 35 days if paper-based exam.

During the examination day, you should bring important things with you. And your Identification is one of it. It should have your signature and photo in it. If you have a driver’s license, you could use it. But if you’re identification card does not have a signature, you could your other cards like ATM and bank cards. However, Prometric centers doesn’t allow Social Security Cards and Library Cards to be your identification card.

Also, never go to take the exam without preparing yourself.

– You should sleep early the night before the exam to gain more strength,
– eat healthy and nutritious foods like fruits and oats, if time allows you could at least have a short exercise, jog for a few rounds, to freshen up your body, mind and spirit,
– wear something comfortable. It’ll help you feel better and confident, and
– review your notes.

And be early half before the exact time for your exam. You could still relax a little bit, feel the fresh air and feel prepared, unlike being on time – you’ll be taking the exam while catching your breath!

As you start the test, they will be giving you a paper, pencil and a calculator. Before the test is given, write down first everything that you have remembered. You could look at your paper during the exam and it won’t that hard for you to answer. You may get too nervous to remember everything that you have studied. It is better to write it down while you are still relaxed as soon as the paper was given to you.

After that long and nervous test, stay calm! Relax! And you should feel great for you have done your best to take and pass the test. You don’t have to worry much because you will be receiving the results of the exam after 10 days. But, if you didn’t pass the test, don’t feel dismayed. Failure is part of our lives. Besides, it’s never been the end of the world. You can retake the exam again. And if ever you didn’t pass, all you need to pay is for the re-examination fees. So cheer up!

So, be ready for the exam. I’m sure you’ll do great; especially, you have done your best part for it. You deserve to pass. Be prepared and take the PMP exam with full confidence. Good luck!

College Success – What Does it Take?

College success is not as difficult for most young students as learning how to take on adult responsibilities. Letting go of adolescence and becoming an adult is more challenging according to Carl Pickardt, Psychologist and adolescent specialist. If you take responsibility for showing up to class regularly, turning papers and work in on time, and sacrificing some of the time spent with friends in favor of more study time, you have won half the battle for achieving college success. Being responsible for meeting the demands of college (ability to respond and step up to the plate) is one of the keys to college achievement.

You already have been using some of the higher level thinking skills needed to succeed in college. You use these skills when you solve your life problems and overcome obstacles. Your lack of success in college will not be because you are not smart enough. There are many different types of intelligence and my experience in working with hundreds of students has shown that practically every student is smart in one way or another. For more information on different types of intelligence other than IQ, you can read the theories of Howard Gardner (Multiple Intelligences), Robert Sternberg (Successful Intelligence) and Daniel Goleman (Emotional and Social Intelligence).

In addition to self-responsibility, there are three other factors you will need to succeed in college:

1. Learning how to learn and study skills — You need to learn how to learn effectively and the ways that you learn best. Most colleges offer at least one college success course which can teach you these skills. These courses also need to be taught to high school students, but sadly few high schools provide them. A good college success course will teach you: how to study and learn, reading comprehension strategies, your best learning styles and types of intelligences, how to set and reach your goals, time management, discovery of your talents and strengths, career exploration, writing skills, note taking, problem solving, and more.

2. Work Ethic — Good study and work habits will lead you to success in college and in the work force. Good study skills will only be effective if you apply them. They will be worthless to you if you do not use them.

3. Motivation — Without motivation you will not consistently use good study skills, work habits and your intelligence and potential. There are two types of motivation, the carrot (pleasure) and the stick (pain). When you use these together you will have a powerful motivational combination. Keep your long-range goals for achieving a college education in your mind’s eye. For example, let’s say you want a degree in secondary education to become a teacher. Visualize and imagine yourself as a teacher who is making a positive difference for your students. Enjoy the positive feelings that come when you see yourself as a great teacher. This is the carrot and a reminder of one of the benefits (pleasure) you will experience by achieving your goal. Also remind yourself of the stick (pain) or the consequences if you do not achieve your goal of completing a degree in secondary education. It can deprive you of becoming a teacher. Reminding yourself of the benefits and consequences will help you to stay motivated and persistent. Also break your long-range goals into small steps. Every step accomplished provides you with positive feedback and will increase your motivation to reach your long-range goals.

You can succeed in college, in your career, and in your life. Where to begin? Start with college success by taking responsibility, learning how to learn effectively and how you learn best, using good study skills and work habits, and by fueling your motivation to succeed. Use these four keys and you will open the door to college success and the gateway to your dreams.

Choosing The Right Career Path For Yourself

Attaining success in your profession is not easy. It is remarkable how many people fail to achieve that perfection in their careers simply because they did not take time out to analyse what their attitude towards success is and what success looks like for them. A proper plan has to be created before choosing any profession. The road to success is never accidental or easy; to execute the plan to perfection, a hand from luck and lots of hard work has to be done.

The key steps to help attain success and move ahead on the road to achieve one’s career ambitions are:

Setting The Goals

The surest way to achieve any goal is to never to make any lofty ones. Always set such goals for yourself which are you think are achievable by you. Create a balance between your professional life and your personal life, finance, career, health, relationship, etc. You will also endanger your chances for the success of your career if you set up too many goals for yourself.

Be Committed

Once the goals have been set and the path is clear, you will have to become committed to achieving them. Create a clear vision in front of you at all time and keep in mind the success you have to achieve in your profession. Your dedication and motivation should never waver if your vision of success is clear in your mind.

Measure Your Progress

Now that you have set your goals on how to achieve the success and become committed to the cause, it does not mean that the work will be done on its own. You have to monitor your performance on every step along the way. Completing the task in proper time span and achieving the required quality at the right pace is important. If there is slack in these areas, it can leave a huge effect of your own performance on the organization.

Sharpen Your Skills

With every project and activity you gain a new experience. Learn from that experience and use it for upcoming projects. Ongoing learning is critical for your personal development and success.

Maintain A Professional Image

Professional image plays an important role in the success of the career. Your personality is the key factor which shows how serious you are about your career. Clothes, looks, and the way of talking and behaving with others, all must be maintained in order to create a perfect image of you in front of your superiors.
